Tales of the deep

The story is important.

The Pacific Northwest is home to some of the most diverse and vibrant freshwater and saltwater ecosystems in the country, supporting iconic species like salmon, trout, steelhead, orca, and a wide range of marine life. This website is dedicated to celebrating those waters—while protecting the landscapes that sustain them.

Our mission is to connect people with the region’s fishing heritage and natural beauty, while promoting responsible stewardship. Healthy waterways depend on thriving native plant communities, which stabilize streambanks, cool water temperatures, filter runoff, and create habitat for fish and wildlife. Native species such as willows, sedges, and coastal shrubs play a critical role in maintaining ecological balance.

Equally important is the removal and control of invasive plants that threaten these ecosystems. Aggressive species like Japanese knotweed, Himalayan blackberry, and invasive grasses outcompete native vegetation, degrade salmon habitat, alter streamflow, and reduce biodiversity. Their spread impacts both freshwater and coastal environments, making conservation efforts essential for the long‑term health of our rivers, lakes, and shorelines.

Through education, community involvement, and a shared love of the outdoors, this site aims to inspire anglers, hikers, and nature enthusiasts to protect the Pacific Northwest’s waters. Ensuring that future generations can enjoy the same rich fishing traditions and wild landscapes we cherish today.
